John Cullen Obituary, Walpole MA: Beloved Father, Elevator Mechanic, and Family Man Dies at 32

Born on September 3, 1993, John was the cherished son of John F. Cullen and Marie B. (Fitzgerald) Cullen of Walpole.

Above all else, John treasured being a father to his beloved son, John Michael Cullen, who was the greatest source of pride and happiness in his life. Friends and family say he embraced fatherhood wholeheartedly, making every opportunity to spend time with his son count. Whether attending sporting events, enjoying outdoor activities, or celebrating life’s everyday moments, John always placed his son at the center of his world.

He is also survived by the mother of his son, Carissa Galavotti of Lakeville.

Devoted Son, Brother, and Uncle

John is lovingly remembered by his sisters:

  • Kayla M. Davis and her husband, Stephen, of Quincy

  • Shannon C. Folan and her husband, Shawn, of Norfolk

  • Meaghan M. Cullen of Walpole

  • Hannah S. Cullen of Walpole

He was also a proud uncle to his nephew, Callum J. Folan, and a devoted grandson of Edward and Eileen (Folan) Fitzgerald of West Roxbury.

John was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Hugh T. Cullen and Marguerite M. (Hynes) Cullen.

In addition to his immediate family, he leaves behind numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and lifelong friends who considered him family.

Passion for Sports and a Dedicated Career

A 2011 graduate of Walpole High School, John enjoyed athletics throughout his life and continued his education at Nichols College in Dudley, Massachusetts.

Professionally, he built a respected career as an elevator mechanic with Stanley Elevator Company Inc., where coworkers admired his strong work ethic, reliability, and commitment to excellence. Those who worked alongside him remember him as someone who approached every job with professionalism while maintaining a friendly and approachable personality.

Remembered for His Kindness and Infectious Spirit

Family and friends describe John as someone who naturally brought people together. His contagious smile, quick sense of humor, and generous heart made him someone others genuinely enjoyed being around.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate John’s life during visitation on:

  • Thursday, July 9, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

  • William J. Gormley Funeral Home, West Roxbury, Massachusetts

A Funeral Mass will take place on:

  • Friday, July 10, at 11:30 a.m.

  • St. Theresa of Avila Church, West Roxbury

Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
