Fatal Incident During Severe Storm
According to authorities, emergency crews responded to reports of a person trapped beneath energized power lines on Castleton Road in southeast Charlotte during powerful thunderstorms that swept through Mecklenburg County.
Charlotte Fire Department personnel arrived to find live electrical wires lying across Sarah after storm damage caused utility lines to fall. Because the lines remained energized, firefighters were unable to reach her immediately until Duke Energy crews disconnected electrical service and secured the scene.
